Modern Touches
I have always classified my home style and clothing style as more traditional. It was safe for me, but I have started to branch out to the modern side and I am loving it.

I have always loved traditional design. I feel it is classy and doesn't go out of style. It has always been my safe choice in home design and clothing choices. My best friends know that wearing neutrals is my favorite thing to do. Why? It is safe. One thing I have LOVED about aging is that I have seen a little more and experienced lots of life lessons. Raising kids and pets has stretched me more than I have ever imagined (in good ways). I have lots more to learn but somewhere along the journey I quit caring about safe. I quit caring about a lot of things. I had to focus on what matters and a perfect home, clothes, body, and family does not matter. I think that's why I decided traditional is not me, not right now anyways. I am loving the modern, organic side. I am loving not playing it safe. I am branching out with colors and patterns. Why? Because I am realizing as I age that safety isn't safe. It isn't guaranteed. Do what you love. Love what you love. Don't be unapologetic about that. Always be classy and stick to morals and to God, but things, like style and taste, (what doesn't really matter in the end) be fun and do what you love. Life is short. So after that big philosophical paragraph, I am sharing some ways I am incorporating modern and some favorite finds in home and in my clothing choices. It is bringing me joy and that's what we should all look for.

The living room has changed DRAMATICALLY since moving in. Part of it is because of you and the awesome companies I get to work with, but the change has definitely shifted to modern, organic. The sectional, the swivel chairs, the animal heads,, and the side board all lean toward modern. The two story curtains, olive tree, coffee table, rug, and roman clay fire place keep it a little more traditional.

The entry way has definitely shifted toward modern. The cloud art, the lamp, the bench, the big floor vase... They all are more on the organic side. The entry way is what guests see and feel, so I have been intentional about switching this area to more modern. Do you like the changes? My youngest daughter wonders why there is only one cloud in the art. I did keep with a few traditional pieces, like the rug.

Here are all the ways I am slightly adding more modern touches to my home. It is all about adding what I love now, not caring about what is in, what is cool, what is safe. I hope this helps you to embrace yourself and what you are really leaning towards. Lastly, I am VERY passionate about home decor and have been from a young age but it doesn't matter. What I am learning that matters is being present with your family, embracing good and bad days and growing, and maybe just maybe taking a little more time to make your home the comforting spot to gather for your loved ones. I do that through home decor. It may not be with home decor for you, though; it may be that you are a great cook. I have some really good friends that make the best meals. It may be not a pretty home or a well cooked meal, it may be that you stop and are present. God gave us all great, different gifts! Love you all and I am thankful for all that are here!
